Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on August 22 all across Pakistan, announced the chairman of Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman, on Sunday after the confirmed sighting of the moon of Zilhaj.
The Islamic month Zilhaj starts today, whereas Hajj would be performed on August 2o in Saudi Arabia.
Eid ul Azha, also known as the greater Eid, is one of the two most important celebrations in the Islamic Calendar.
The festival commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) to sacrifice his beloved son Prophet Ismail (A.S) upon the order of Allah.
Muslims all over the world celebrate this festival that marks as the end of the Hajj to Makkah.
The tradition is for all the Muslims to sacrifice a cow, goat, camel or sheep, all those who can afford, and share the meat amongst the family, friends and the poor.

The Metropolitan Commissioner of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman, ordered the veterinary and the health and medical services department of KMC to create awareness about the seriousness of this disease so that people can take precautions before and after Eid ul Azha.
He also ordered to carry out fumigation to save the people from the virus.
The Precautionary measures he mentioned are:
