From what we’ve seen, rugged smartphones always seem to skip on a feature or two. Be it the latest processor or storage or camera performance. Not this time.
Meet the Chinese manufacturer, AGM, a manufacturer that makes rugged smartphones without any compromises. Just yesterday at an event held in Shenzhen they have launched a new model called the X3 and it comes with some decent specifications.
The problem with most rugged phones is that they don’t look as good as their normal counterparts. The AGM X3, however, looks better than even some regular smartphones.
There are two versions available for the X3. One will come with a curved anti-drop back cover while the other comes in a supposedly rugged crocodile skin back. As compared to the X2, the X3 is now 25% less thick and the weight of the device has also been reduced by 13.6%.
The X3 has a floating design and comes with all the nature proofing you need. AGM says that the X3 is waterproof, dustproof and shockproof for up to 1.5 meters of drops. It also has a MIL-STD-810G certification meaning it can survive temperatures ranging from -30 degrees to 60 degrees Celsius.
It also comes with JBL powered stereo speakers, managing an ear-piercing 98dB which is much higher than current flagship smartphones.
The display on the front is a large 5.99-inch panel and comes protected with Gorilla Glass 5. The brightness peaks out at 500 nits which, to be honest, is not too bright.
The AGM X3 doesn’t seem to skimp out on specifications and instead provides what the latest flagships in 2018 offer with a Snapdragon 845 chipset.
There are 3 types of memory and storage configurations available with the X3.
On the back of the phone, you have dual cameras in the 12MP+24MP configuration and both have f/1.8 apertures providing good low light performance, at least on paper. The front-facing camera is 20MP, which comes with AI features such as various beauty modes etc.
The battery on the X3 is a massive 4,100mAh cell, keeping in line with the rest of the premium specifications on this smartphone. It also supports Quick Charge 4.0 but it comes with a QC 3.0 charger out of the box. The battery should manage to give you around a couple of days of use on average.
The pricing for all the variants of the AGM X3 is as follows:
