Xiaomi Launches a Foldable Mini Treadmill

It is becoming increasingly tempting to start a weekly series dedicated exclusively to covering the unconventional, secondary products that Xiaomi unveils on a regular basis.

After unveiling a water heater recently Xiaomi is back targeting the fitness-minded crowd with its new WalkingPad Mini Smart Treadmill. The company already makes devices including some pretty attractively-priced fitness trackers & smartwatches.

Foldable Mini Treadmill

This treadmill sees the company enter the fitness category in full force. You may or may not see the treadmill yourself, however. The company has put up the device for crowdfunding in order for it to be available in international markets.

There it is priced at $499, though, upon availability at Amazon in November, it will cost $599.

Specs

Feature-wise, the machine supports a maximum load of 110kg. It has a speed range of between 0.5 and 6 km/h. There is also an automatic mode, where the treadmill changes speed automatically as you pick up the pace or slow down.

It can also be folded in half and stored easily, which is a key feature if you have storage constraints. Because it is a smart device, it can be controlled via a smartphone app, though, a small remote control is provided for controlling speed.

No Buttons

The treadmill itself has no buttons, however, there is an LED for showing the relevant data. It is currently available only in China for around $250, though, its international price would be double of that (it does support a higher max load, though).

Normally, a Western smartphone company’s launch of a treadmill would raise more than a few eyebrows, but that doesn’t affect Chinese companies. You do you, Xiaomi.
