3G/4G Users Cross 59.48 Million Mark During September 2018

The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan reached 59.48 million by end September 2018, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

Number of mobile phone users in Pakistan reached 151.66 million by end September 2018 compared to 151.09 million by end August 2018, which registered an increase of 0.57 million during the period under review.

Jazz’s total count for 3G users stood at 14.84 million by end September compared to 15.045 million by end of August, registering a decrease of 0.2 million. Jazz 4G user numbers jumped from 5077651 by end August to 5585619 by end September.

Zong 3G subscribers decreased from 9.034 million by end August to 8.88 million by end September while the number of 4G users jumped from 8131792 by end August 8521530 by end September.

The number of 3G users of Telenor network decreased from 10.210 million by end August to 9.947 million by end September. The number of 4G users jumped from 3590494 by end August to 3839676 by end September.

Ufone added 0.38 million 3G users on its network during the month of September as the total reached to 7.858 million by end September compared to 7.472 million by end August 2018.

Teledensity for cellular mobile increased to 73.24 compared to 72.97 percent and broadband subscribers reached 61635257 by end September compared to 60756678 by end August 2018.

Complaints

PTA received 3754 complaints from telecom consumers against different telecom operators including (cellular operators, PTCL, LDIs, WLL operators and ISPs) as of September 2018.

According to PTA data PTCL leads the chart with 1042 complaints and Jazz (Mobilink + Warid) stands at second position as the most complained telecom operator with 913 complaints.

PTA said that it was able to get 3712 complaints resolved i.e. 98.88 percent.

Cellular mobile subscribers constitute major part of overall telecom subscriber base, therefore, maximum number of complaints belong to this segment. Total number of complaints against CMOs by September 2018 stood at 2621.

In terms of the segregation of complaints on operator basis, a total of 913 complaints were received against Jazz which is 34.83% of the total CMO related complaints.

Telenor, which has the second largest number of consumers, was second with 646 i.e. 24.64 percent complaints were received against it.

Zong stood third with 570 complaints i.e. 21.74 percent of total complaints.

Ufone had 492 complaints against its various services which make up 18.84 percent of the total CMO related complaints.
