Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering to host five of the eight matches of the upcoming season of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Karachi.
“Cricket authorities are considering to host at least five matches including the final of the league at National Stadium, Karachi in a bid to revive international cricket in Pakistan,” local media reported on Tuesday.
Reports suggested that the other three matches would be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
A local news channel quoted an unnamed source from the board saying that hosting more matches in Karachi was to please the foreign players.
“The aim of hosting more matches in Karachi is to address the concerns of international cricketers,” the official said.
It should be mentioned here that the final of the PSL 3 was also successfully held at National Stadium where more than 30 thousand people watched the match.
Earlier, former PCB chairman Najam Sethi had announced to host as many as eight matches of PSL 4 in Pakistan.
His announcement was endorsed by his successor Ehsan Mani, who also wants increase the number of games in Pakistan in the coming years.
The fourth season of PSL 2019 is scheduled to kick off on February 14 in Dubai.
The board just completed the player drafts for the forthcoming season last month and is now inviting bids for the ownership of the sixth team.
