A woman from the hindu community, Suman Pawan Bodani, has been appointed as a judge in Pakistan. She was the 54th in the merit list for the appointment of civil judge/judicial magistrate. Daughter of Dr. Pawan Podani, Saman belongs to the Shahdadkot town of Sindh.
This isn’t the first time that a person from the Hindu community has been appointed as a judge, but it is the first for a female. The first judge from the Hindu community was the renowned Justice Rana Bhagwandas.
He served as the 4th chief justice of Pakistan from 1960 to 1968. He also remained the acting Chief Justice of Pakistan for brief periods during 2005-2007.

Apart from the judiciary, the Hindu community has also made it to various realms including the government and the parliament.
In March 2018, Krishna Kumari became the first Hindu woman elected to the Senate. She belongs to the lowest rung of the Hindu caste system prevalent in both Pakistan and India.
It is worth mentioning here that Hindus constitute 2 percent of Pakistan’s population while Hinduism is the second largest religion in Pakistan. Moreover, Pakistan is the fifth largest country home to the Hindu community. By 2050, it will become the fourth largest country containing Hindu population.
