Pakistani cricketers are adding glory to Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with their standout performances. Be it Shahid Afridi’s blast, Junaid Khan’s lethal bowling or Wahab Riaz’s fearsome pace, Pakistani players make a visible difference with their performances wherever they go.
After Afridi and Junaid Khan’s rumble, it was Wahab Riaz’s day to tear apart the opposition. He picked up a hat-trick to help his side Comilla Victorians seal a massive 80-run victory over Khulna Titans on Monday.
The speedstar, who removed D Wiese, Taijul Islam, and Mohammad Saddam in three consecutive deliveries, ended up with figures of 3 for 14 in his incompleted quota.
This was Wahab’s second T20 hattrick. His first came against Gloucestershire for Kent during Friends Life T20 in 2011.
Furthermore, this is the fourth hattrick in BPL history and second of the season. The previous hattricks are registered to Mohammad Sami for Duronto Rajshahi against Dhaka Gladiators in 2012, Al Amin Hossian for Barisal Bulls against Sylhet Stars in 2015 and Aliss Islam for Dhaka Dynamites against Rangpur Riders in 2019.
Riaz, who has not played an international T20 game since April last year, is making a solid case for an international call with his thumping performance.
He has been in an impressive form throughout the tournament and has so far picked nine wickets in his ongoing BPL stint. He is expected to continue his performance in the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League where he will represent Peshawar Zalmi.
