Police have arrested a driver of online cab service in Karachi for trying to extort money from a female passenger in return for the cell phone she had left in his car.
The police officials revealed that a woman booked a cab using an online application. When she got off from the cab upon reaching her destination in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, she forgot her phone in the car.
Later, her brother called the driver and asked him to return the phone. The driver refused to do so unless he was given Rs.10,000 in exchange. He also said that he would disclose the location where he’d return that phone later.
The victim filed a complaint with the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police and the police traced the driver and recovered the phone.
The police have taken the driver into custody along with the car for further investigation.
