Fawad Chaudhry Assures PTV Protestors Regarding Their Complaints on Medical Bills

Divisions have surfaced in the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s media team over the performance of Pakistan Television Network’s (PTV) Managing Director Arshad Khan.

The tensions between Prime Minister Imran Khan’s aide Naeem-ul-Haq and the Federal Information Minister have heated up and are now visible on social media.

During a visit to PTV Center, where PTV employees are protesting against its MD, the minister showed sympathy with the protesters. His comments fueled the anger within the party.

Here’s what he said:

We are not able to pay [monthly] pensions amounting to a few thousand rupees, but at the same time, a senior person was netting more than Rs2.5 million per month. This is unfair.

PTV employees are holding a protest outside the PTC Center against MD Arshad Khan for his curbing measures. The PTV management calls it an action to contain misuse of medical bills in the corporation.

During his address, the minister told the protesters that one of PM Khan’s aide was backing the MD Arshad Khan, without taking any names.

He promised the employees that they would soon receive Prime Minister Health cards resolving their medical issues.

Fawad added, “A few points before us are very clear. The main issue is that in the Prime Minister House some unelected people do not understand politics, and the anger among the employees was because the management had set Rs2.5 million salary for itself, and I have also written a letter about the performance of this senior official.”

However, Naeem ul Haque, in his response, called Fawad Chaudhry an outsider and hinted that the MD was going nowhere.

He tweeted, “The Prime Minister has full confidence in the Board of PTV and its management and believes PTV should be an independent organization like BBC and the government will take all steps necessary towards that end.”

Without mentioning the minister, PM’s special aide further warned him to stay on ‘the path of PM Khan’s ideology,’ or he will find his way out.

“All the newcomers in PTI must understand and follow the philosophy of Imran Khan. PTI is a strong ideological movement, and its success has been due to the steadfast determination of its leader to pursue justice and fairness. Anyone thinking otherwise has no future in the party.”

Fawad replied him with a simple poetic message:

  • Fawad being younger and Junior to Naeem ul Haq should resist from differing and taking the matter in Media.
