The Senate is close to passing a historic bill which will bind private schools in the federal capital to provide free education to at least one orphan child.
The Legislators on the treasurer benches are preparing a draft of the bill which is written by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Senator Mian Ateeq Shaikh.
The bill will be tabled before the Senate in the coming session.
The historic decision was taken during a parliamentary panel meeting chaired by the Leader of the House, Senate Shibli Faraz.
The bill aims to increase the literacy rate in the country and also to accommodate the deprived segment of society.
The proposed law will bind all private institutions in Islamabad to bear full expanses of at least one orphan child from nursery to the secondary school certificate (SSC – Matriculation) level.
Senator Ateeq of the MQM-P was confident that the government would be able to get this bill passed from the Upper House during the current session as it has already been unanimously approved by the concerned committee.
