Social Champ Gets Selected for OTF Wadi Accelerator Program

Social Champ was one of the 12 startups selected from the entire MENA region for the second cohort of the OTF Wadi Accelerator Program, a seed stage fund and accelerator program founded by the Oman Tech Fund, advised by 500 Startups.

The startup was first introduced to Charles Ludwig, Investment Manager Oman Technology Fund/Wadi Accelerator, at 021Disrupt, the flagship event on entrepreneurship and innovation organized by The Nest I/O. Wadi Accelerator offers growth hacking tools, mentoring, and investment in tech startups in Oman and MENA region over a period of 3 months.

At the end of the acceleration program, the startups are given an opportunity to participate in the Investor Showcase where they pitch their business ideas to an audience of corporate decision-makers, investors, and other professionals for future investment and partnerships.

“Our Investor Showcase is a first-look at how our startups apply some of the region’s leading business model innovations and technologies. In meeting our startups, guests explore commercial engagements and investment opportunities.  And we are excited to learn that many of our guests either secured contracts or arranged for future meetings,” commented Charles.

About Social Champ

Founded in 2017 by Sameer Ahmed Khan, Social Champ is an online tool that helps influencers, marketers, and SMEs manage their social media accounts from one platform and automate their social media content.

Endorsed by Guy Kawasaki, the local startup has been making waves in the startup community since its inception and has also won local startup pitch competitions in the past.

“I can’t thank Jehan Ara enough for introducing me to Charles at 021Disrupt”, said Sameer, “That one meeting with Charles opened so many doors for us not only because we got selected for Wadi Accelerator Program but also because of the networking and business opportunities that have come our way because of it.”

“This event marks the conclusion of a three-month training program that equips founders with the skills to scale their businesses and survive highly competitive environments.  Part of our program took place in the United Kingdom because sometimes our startups thrive using borrowed techniques from other regions.  These techniques can translate well in MENA and have for some of our founders”, said Al Muather Al Wahaibi, Investment Analyst otf Wadi Accelerator.

Social Champ now plans on using this investment to scale in the MENA region and is already in talks with many leading corporations for potential future collaborations.
