Temperature Expected to Rise Rapidly in Coming Days: MET Office

The citizens of Karachi are already experiencing a change in weather and things are about to become increasingly difficult for them in the coming days.

According to the Met Office, the mercury is expected to soar to as high as 39 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday. The reason provided for this is the sea breeze and a change in the wind directions.

The director of Met Office Karachi, Sardar Sarfraz, said:

We are expecting a slight increase in the temperature from Friday due to the change in wind direction and suspension of sea breeze, which may result in daytime temperature of up to 39 degrees Celsius on Saturday, Sunday and maybe Monday.

Sardar added that the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has not issued any alert as a heatwave is not expected. He assured that the department is monitoring the situation and nothing is too alarming for now.

According to the PMD report, mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country while it will remain hot in Sindh. However, rain-thunderstorm is expected in isolated places in:

  • Quetta
  • Zhob
  • Malakand
  • Hazara
  • Kohat divisions
  • Kashmir
  • Gilgit-Baltistan
  • Islamabad / Rawalpindi
