Pakistan Among the Favorites to Win World Cup 2019: Inzamam-ul-Haq

Inzamam-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s chief selector, has listed Pakistan ‘among the favorites’ to win the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The tournament will commence from 30th May and Pakistan will face West Indies in their opening fixture on the following day.

Prior to the World Cup, Pakistan will tour England for a 5-ODI series and one-off T20I. This will help the players get used to the conditions ahead of the mega-event.

Pakistan’s most recent limited-overs assignment came in the UAE against Australia, in which they succumbed to a 5-0 defeat. A number of first-team players were given rest and debuts were handed to: Shan Masood, Abid Ali, Saad Ali, Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Hasnain.

Despite the whitewash, Inzamam claimed that Pakistan pack the firepower to blow through each and every opposition in the upcoming mega tournament.

Against Australia, we had rested seven of our key players and in the last two games we had rested around 10 of our main players but the team still fought hard in those matches and that is a very good sign for me.

I am confident we will pick a very good team for the World Cup and Pakistan will be among the favorites for the title.

These players needed rest before the World Cup and we have a hectic schedule in England going into the tournament that is why we rested them and we also wanted to try out our bench strength.

Pakistan will face England on 5th May for a T20I in Cardiff.
