To rectify the growing complaints of train passengers, Pakistan Railways has taken a crucial step to cope with the situation.
The department has announced that a train manager will travel on all the trains in the country who will be responsible for resolving the issues faced by the passengers during the travel.
“The manager will look after complaints regarding water, electricity, and food,” a statement from Pakistan Railways said.
The railway department has also issued a complaint number which will receive complaints via WhatsApp message from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm during the day.
Passengers can also call at 051-9221949 or fax at 051-9204793 in case of any complaint, it said.
The decision has come at a time when the complaints of railway passengers are gradually mounting, especially after summer enters the country.
Earlier this week, there were reports that the passengers of Jinnah Express – a recently inaugurated VVIP train running between Lahore to Karachi – expressed anger over the management when several of its coaches lost electricity and people were suffocating in the hot weather.
Similarly, in the last week of March, Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed had to publically apologize for late arrivals of trains.
