Punjab Police have secured permission to bring alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky from Karachi to Lahore for interrogation in cases registered against her in the provincial capital.
According to reports, police teams from Lahore’s Iqbal Town, Model Town, and Civil Lines divisions are expected to travel to Karachi soon to take custody of the suspect. Lahore Police had approached both the home department and the court to seek approval for her transfer. Sources said at least five cases have been registered against Pinky in Lahore.
In a related development, the investigation officer in Karachi has also sought court permission to conduct forensic analysis of Pinky’s voice notes. The officer told a judicial magistrate in Karachi-South that several voice notes surfaced during the investigation, but the suspect denied that the recordings belonged to her. Police argued that the audio material could serve as important evidence in the narcotics case.
The case has continued to widen in Karachi as well. Two alleged facilitators, Sohailur Rehman and Zeeshanur Rehman, have moved a sessions court seeking removal of their names from the case, claiming they were falsely implicated and had no links to Pinky or the drug trade.
Earlier this week, a judicial magistrate ruled that Pinky did not need to be produced physically in court for now due to security concerns, though the jail superintendent was directed to present her whenever required. Police had requested permission for her court appearance through video link, arguing that moving her could create a law and order situation.
Police have also submitted details of bank and digital accounts allegedly used by Pinky’s facilitators for narcotics transactions. According to the report, multiple accounts in private banks, along with digital wallets, were used to handle money linked to drug sales.
Pinky was arrested in Karachi a few weeks ago. During interrogation, she reportedly named several individuals, including celebrities, as alleged buyers, putting renewed focus on the scale of the narcotics business operating in the country.
