You must have heard that aircraft can’t fly without wings, but have you ever thought what would happen if an aircraft had to fly without a body? Horten seems to be working on the very same idea and their aircraft could be the future of personal flying aircraft.
Horten HX-2 named ‘flying wing’ made its debut flight at AERO Friedrichshafen airshow in southern Germany. Horten HX-2 is a modern, lightweight, highly economical, propeller-based aircraft without any body.
Powered by a 100-hp Rotax 912, fuel capacity of 12 Liters and body made of carbon fiber, its range is anticipated to reach up to 3500km. The aircraft’s design is said to become the pioneer in the area of fuselage and tailless aircraft family.
