PIA to Take Action Against Flight Crew’s Unfair Deputation Abroad

Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has decided to take action against the ‘facilitators’ of crew members deputed abroad in violation of the stipulated rules.

The authorities will take action against the officers involved in the overseas deputation of the crewmembers on ‘special recommendations.’

The Department of Flight Services will also initiate action against officers involved in deputing air hostesses and other crewmembers involved in smuggling.

According to the sources, several cases have emerged where some crewmembers were sent abroad through general declaration despite having an expired visa.

The flag carrier has decided to keep a check on the staff movement and examine their documents regularly. The decision has come in the wake of the arrest of Steward Imran Mehsood who was deputed to the UK illegally and got arrested by the authorities.

Other cases of crewmembers slipping away in foreign countries also make the headlines every now and then. Just recently, an on-duty air hostess named Shazia ran away in Paris.

A month ago, the national airline had approved a new policy for ground jobs of the cabin crew. The policy will be applicable to both contractual and permanent employees.

Under the new policy, the application for ground service can only be submitted after completion of 10 years of service. The airline management will decide to appoint cabin crew in any department. After the management’s approval for a ground job, the employee will not perform the flight service.

  • I do not hope that such disciplinary actions will be extended to non-civilians in PIA, enjoying 7 figure salaries, perks and kickbacks while on deputation to PIA.
Someone sells PIA Airbus for pennies to Germany, puts the blame on German CEO and walks back to PAF with no remorse or regrets or punishment.
