Iran Offers Electricity, Gas and Oil to Pakistan

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that Iran is interested in increasing exports of electricity, oil, and gas to Pakistan.

He further revealed that both countries have agreed on the establishment of a Barter Committee to exchange goods. This will ensure the import and export balance as well.

During Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Tehran, the Iranian president said that the cooperation between Gwadar and Chabahar port can be increased.

The president said that Iran is ready to increase electricity exports to Pakistan by ten-fold. It can meet Pakistan’s oil and gas demands as well.

He said that they can facilitate the construction of a railroad linking Istanbul to Islamabad. Rouhani underlined that no third country can harm the brotherly relations of Pakistan and Iran.

On the occasion, PM Imran Khan said that his visit to Tehran is aimed at increasing trade and cooperation in energy and other areas.

During the joint press conference, Khan said, “Pakistan is after finding a mechanism to enhance economic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially in the oil and gas sector.”

“Pakistan wants long-term relations with Iran and we should use the abundant potentials existing in the region to this end,” said the premier.
