State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Khan, has said that 15 police stations have been set up across the country to deal with cybercrime.

Khan made this statement in the Senate on Tuesday during the “Question Hour” session.

In response to a supplementary question, the minister said that authorities received more than 1500 complaints regarding online violence, cyberbullying and digital harassment during 2018-19.

The authorities acted promptly on these complaints and addressed 8124 complaints as a result of which 176 people were arrested and produced before courts.

He also informed the Upper House that the KP government had allocated a sum of Rs. 8.876 billion (8,876,093,200) for Frontier Constabulary during the current fiscal year; and that the FC personnel were receiving their salaries on time.

“The government also aims to further increase the funds for FC in the upcoming budget,” he added.
