England Captain Eoin Morgan Suspended from 4th ODI Against Pakistan

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has charged England’s captain Eoin Morgan for slow over-rate during the third ODI against Pakistan on Tuesday and has imposed a one-match suspension and fined 40% of his match fee.

The ban has ruled out Morgan from the fourth ODI scheduled to take place at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Friday.

English bowlers took nearly four hours (29 minutes more than the given time) to complete the first innings yesterday at Bristol. The whole team has been fine 20% of their match fee for the offense.

This is the second time in 12 months that the English skipper has been charged for such an offense. He was found guilty of slow over-rate against the West Indies earlier this year.

The England Cricket Board (ECB) is yet to announce the skipper for Friday’s game.

England is two up in the five-match ODI series after the first game was washed out.

Bairstow Schooled

Moreover, English opener Jonny Bairstow, the Man of the Match for Tuesday’s match, has also been reprimanded (but released with a warning) for breaching the Level 1 of ICC’s Code of Conduct.

He hit the stumps with the bat as a sign of frustration after chopping an away-going delivery on to the stumps. Bairstow scored 128 off just 93 balls.

Bairstow breached Article 2.2 which relates to abuse of ground equipment or fixtures & fittings during an international match.
