KP Abolishes Jobs Quota for Children of Retired and Deceased Govt Employees

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has issued fresh instructions regarding the jobs quota for children of retired and deceased government employees, directing departments to implement recent court rulings on the matter.

According to an official communication sent to departments, children of government employees who retired or died after 26 September 2024 will no longer be eligible for new appointments under the quota.

The provincial government has asked all departments to ensure compliance with decisions of the Supreme Court and the Federal Constitutional Court.

It has also instructed authorities to deal with pending quota cases from before 26 September 2024 in accordance with the law.

The letter states that each pending case will be decided on the basis of its individual facts and legal status rather than through blanket treatment. Administrative departments have been told to examine every case separately on merit and in light of relevant court rulings.

The Human Resource Department has issued directions to all provincial departments and district administrations to implement these instructions.

It has further said that any doubtful or disputed cases related to the quota for children of deceased employees should be referred to the Law Department for review.
