Google Mobile Search Gets a Makeover

Google search on mobile phones is getting a whole lot better. The search engine giant is introducing some interesting new features to the mobile version of Google search, letting you see the name and logo of each website next to the result.

Here’s what it will look like:

If there is a “relevant ad” that Google wants to show you, it will be shown with the ad label in bold along with the site’s address. Another interesting feature of the design is that it will allow new actions directly from the results page, such as buying movie tickets or playing podcasts.

Google hopes that the new layout will help identify the source of information on each website. The company said in a blog post,

Over the years, the amount and format of information available on the web has changed drastically—from the proliferation of images and video to the availability of 3D objects you can now view in AR.

The new search interface is only available on mobile devices right now. The desktop version will be updated soon.

It is worth pointing out that this change could be setting the stage for more innovative changes Google showcased at is I/O developer conference earlier. The company aims to change search with computer vision and augmented reality and what’s more, is that results will see 3D images soon.

Hopefully, we’ll see most of these changes within 2019.

  • Great feature, we SEOs are loving it.

By the way, It’s not the logo that is shown, it’s the favicon.
