Finance Ministry Refutes Fake Media Report on Budget Allocated for PM Office

The Ministry of Finance has refuted a news item published in an English daily regarding the allocation proposed for the Prime Minister Office in fiscal budget 2019-20, saying it presents fabricated and erroneous figures.

It has clarified that the funds allocated for the PM Office in the fiscal budget 2019-20 are Rs. 860.28 million. However, the misleading news item stated that the attributed funds for PM Office stood at Rs. 1.17 billion, showing an increase of 19 percent from last year’s allocation.

The ministry said that the news item created a wrong impression by adding allocated budget amounts of other departments with the amount earmarked for the PM Office.

The Finance Ministry said that the budget for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has been set aside around Rs. 309 million and that amount has been wrongly added to the budget amount earmarked for the PM Office.
