Ground-Breaking Ceremony of FMFB Regional Headquarters Held on June 21 in Gilgit

The groundbreaking ceremony of The First MicroFinanceBank Ltd (FMFB) regional headquarters building was held on Friday, June 21 2019, in Gilgit.

Sultan Ali Allana, FMFB’s founding chairman and current chairman of HBL, graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by Aurangzeb, President HBL, Mehmood Madviwalla, Rayomond Kotwal – Chairman FMFB, Amir Masood Khan – President FMFB, the Board of Directors of FMFB, the Senior Management of FMFB, ARCOP and Aga Khan Agency for Habitat. Dignitaries of the local community, as well as law enforcement agencies and local FMFB staff, also attended the ceremony.

The building will be a state of the art green, LEED-certified environmentally friendly, structure in Gilgit Baltistan. Spread over 11,505 sp ft, the building is planned to be completed in 2 years and shall house a bank branch, bank offices, training development centre and regional & area offices.

Speaking on the occasion, Sultan Ali Allana, said,

This building represents a memento of gratitude for the valued contributions of the people of Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral towards the development of Microfinance Sector, for what began as a small credit saving program 37 years ago in this region has developed into what is now considered as the principal tool for poverty alleviation in Pakistan.

ARCOP (Pvt) Ltd have been designated as the principal architects of the project while Aga Khan Agency for Habitat shall act as the Project Manager for its planning, construction and completion.
