Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Might Have a New “DepthVision” Camera

Samsung’s Galaxy Note series has always been home to Samsung’s ultra-premium technology and it looks like they have something new and interesting coming up again. The Note 10 series is due to launch next month at the second Unpacked event of the year.

Just ahead of the launch, Samsung has trademarked a ‘DepthVision lens’. Since trademarks don’t have information about the technology used, we’re unsure about its capabilities. The trademark was filed under class 9 which means it comes under smartphone cameras, which also includes 3D scanning.

It is expected that the DepthVision lens will make its debut with the Note 10 series. The word depth indicates something related to a 3D depth sensor, hence, the new lens could be a part of the camera set up that comes with a time of flight (ToF) sensor. On top of this, the company has also trademarked its “Make & Play 3D” which, again, hints at the 3D scanning.

Previous Reports

Since the Note series has a fervent and curious fan base many reports, true and untrue, surface every now and then. Some of those say that the high-end variant of this stylus-toting smartphone will have two ToF sensors. Other than that, it’s also rumored to come with a three-step variable aperture, up from the 2-step apertures on the S9/S10 series. This will allow even more versatility with a single camera lens.

These reports prove that Samsung is putting a lot of effort on Note 10’s camera technology considering that this is the year smartphone photography really steps up.
