Oppo Interested in Manufacturing Smartphones in Pakistan

Oppo Mobile Technologies has shown interest in establishing a production unit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to meet the growing demand for smartphones in Pakistan.

Oppo is a leading Chinese mobile phone manufacturing company. Its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), George Long, met with KP Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra to discuss the establishment of a large scale production unit in the province.

Special Assistant to KP Chief Minister on Science Technology and Information Technology (ST&IT), Kamran Bangash, was also present in the meeting. The Chinese delegation had a comprehensive delegation with the provincial finance minister regarding Oppo Mobile Technology’s investment in KP.

The CEO of the Chinese company told that the establishment of the production unit will create employment opportunities for over 4000 individuals while ensuring the availability of affordable quality mobile phones to people.

The provincial minister welcomed Oppo’s investment in the country and assured full cooperation and provision of facilities to the company. The KP finance minister and the special assistant to CM apprised the Chinese delegation about the steps undertaken by the provincial government for promotion of investment.


  • I hope gov. doesn’t do something stupid to miss this opportunity. They would have to provide some tax breaks to the companies willing to assemble phones in Pakistan. This will help Pakistan in reducing the import bill to some extent. But it can also open opportunities for selling assembled in Pakistan phones to other countries.
