Foreign Spy Drone Discovered Near Reko Diq Mine

Pakistani authorities have reportedly caught a suspected Iranian spy drone in Balochistan.

According to a media report, Balochistan Levies have taken the drone at Tuzgi Wadh area of Chagai district, which is a few miles away from the Reko Diq mine.

The report cites an official of the provincial government saying that an investigation has been launched to find out where the unmanned aerial vehicle has come from.

The Levies later handed over the drone to the frontier corps (FC) Balochistan, which is concerned with the maintenance of law and order, security and policing in B-areas of the province.

According to BBC Urdu, the drone ‘seems to belong to Iran’ due to Persian writing on it. However, the drone had landed near an area close to both the Iranian and Afghan border, so its origin hasn’t been confirmed.

The news of the drone landing on Pakistani soil came to surface when Ali Ali Özkök, a Berlin-based analyst, took to Twitter to reveal the development while claiming that the drone was an ‘Iranian MoHajjer-6”.

According to another government official, the drone was found in good condition, which means that it landed because of technical issues.

The same incident happened back in 2017. Pakistan’s foreign office revealed in a statement that an Iranian drone in Panjgur was shot down by Pakistan Air Force, as it was unidentified and flying around 3-4 km inside the country’s territory.
