Hafeez will fill the shoes for South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen who withdrew from the T20 league due to national commitments.
This will be the veteran cricketer’s second stint with the franchise as he was part of the team in 2017 when they finished runners-up to Trinbago Knight Riders.
“I really enjoyed my time with the Patriots in 2017 and was very pleased to be asked to join them for the 2019 season,” Hafeez said in a statement.
The Professor was elated to be part of the tournament after missing the last season.
Here is what he said:
The CPL is a competition which has got better every single year, and it is great to be involved again after a season off.
The 38-year-old brings with him an experience of 258 career T20 games in which he has scored 5413 runs and taken 162 wickets. He can prove to be a valuable addition for Patriots.
