The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene a meeting for the Zil Hajj moon sighting on Friday, August 2.
According to the Meteorological Department, the moon is likely to be sighted on Friday, and first Zil Hajj might be on Saturday, August 3.
This way, the 10th Zil Hajj – the first day of Eid-ul-Adha- is likely on Monday, August 12.
Earlier, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhary had also announced that the first day of Eid will be on 12th August.
He had made this claim citing the new Scientific Calendar. However, the calendar is yet to get the federal cabinet’s nod to be official.
Meanwhile, the regional Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will meet in their respective offices on Friday, August 2 to confirm Zil Hajj moon sightings.
With three usual Eid holidays on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, coupled with the weekend before this will mean a total of 5 holidays for government, semi-government and private organizations and institutions.
