Google Unofficially Announces Android 10’s Release Date

Google has just released the sixth and final beta of Android 10 a.k.a. Android Q. Last week, the search engine giant announced that it will be released within a few weeks, with analysts expecting to see Android 10 by the end of September or the start of October.

However, Google’s customer care, on two different occasions, has stated otherwise confirming Android 10’s release date as 3rd September 2019.

In the past, Google’s customer support has shared the wrong information but this time it seems pretty authentic. This is because Google always releases the newest Android versions on the first Monday of the respective month.

In case Monday is a national holiday in the States, the release will be pushed forward to Tuesday. In this case, the first Monday of September is Labor Day in the US, hence, Android 10 will be released on the first Tuesday of this September i.e. 3rd September 2019.

Some of the major features we will see in Android 10 are:

Refreshed Branding

This time, Google has ditched the dessert names we had gotten used to and has opted for numbers to make the operating system’s name more accessible around the world. This is the first time since 2014 that Android has gotten a major name change.

We will see a few tweaks here and there on Android 10, but nothing major. Android’s mascot has seen big changes though. Not only does it come in a new bluish-green color, but from now on, only its head will be visible. The official font has also seen some changes with rounder edges on individual letters.

Live Captions

As part of its “more modern, accessible look” campaign, Google has now introduced an AI that will power Google Assistant locally.

This will help the assistant in processing speech with zero latency and will also come with a feature called ‘Live Caption’ that will be able to add subtitles to everything in real-time.

Privacy

With the release of Android 10, Google will up its privacy game up as well. The new privacy features, including granular location controls and a dedicated privacy section via the settings application, will help keep the user’s personal information confidential.
