Russian President Putin Quotes Quran as He Urges Muslims for Peace

In a surprising move, Russian President, Vladimir Putin has urged the Muslim countries to put an end to the long-standing war in Yemen by quoting a verse from Surah Al-Imran of the Holy Quran.

Saudi Arabia-led coalition of Muslim countries is fighting against Houthi rebels in war-torn Yemen, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths.

He was addressing the audience in Ankara, Turkey in a high-level moot joined by Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani.

And remember the favor of Allah upon you – when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers.

Both Erdogan and Rouhani lauded Putin’s remarks, calling for an end to Saudi Arabia’s invasion of Yemen. Putin also quoted another Islamic teaching, saying that violence is only allowed in self-defense. He suggested – on a lighter note – the Kingdom buy Russian air defense system like Turkey and Iran.

  • Oh, the guy who’s largely responsible for the death and destruction in Syria and countless other countries is quoting Quran to preach peace. Guess that makes everything he did alright then!

    • exactly my thought. the two faced son of a jew mixes with the zionist jew netanyahu and hindu extremist modi

    • I think then nobody is qualified enough to quote Koran to preach peace, everyone has had their share in promoting violence even an individual citizen as well. Everyone is unjust, violent on their own level and to their own extend.

    • it is america and israel who are responsible and russia is just helping syrian government to eliminate ISIS and Al Qaeda, get your facts right

  • I think Putin is sincere with Muslims.I believe under the leadership of Putin muslim ummah will rise again from ashes.

  • He is much better than trump who openly give bad remarks against Islam and hate Muslims and Islam
