Court Orders to Summon Malik Riaz

An anti-corruption court in Karachi has summoned the property tycoon Malik Riaz after his pre-arrest bail request was dismissed.

Judge Nisar Ahmed Khan of the anti-corruption court was hearing a case against Bahria Town’s owner. The court had previously issued summon orders as well, but Riaz’s counselors had been making excuses on his behalf since the last two hearings.

When the court resumed on Wednesday, the judge expressed displeasure due to non-compliance of the court’s orders. The court canceled Riaz’s bail plea.

It should be mentioned here that real estate magnate is on bail in cases related to illegally acquiring government land for Bahria Town.

It must be noted that earlier media reports suggested that Malik Riaz was to be arrested on court orders, but he clarified the situation by tweeting the court order — which said that he is summoned and not to be arrested.
