Samsung Galaxy S11 to Have a 108MP Camera With 5x Optical Zoom

The next flagship from Samsung, the Galaxy S11 is nowhere near an official release, but that is not stopping early details from being leaked. According to recent reports, Industry sources have stated that the next in line Galaxy S flagship will have a 108MP main shooter with 5x optical zoom and a periscope lens.

Samsung Galaxy S11 will bring 108MP camera with 5x optical zoom

This is the same camera sensor that Samsung started mass producing earlier this year. It comes with a thin 5mm profile which will make sure it does not protrude too much from the back of the device. It also features improved optical image stabilization to keep photos and videos steady while the phone is moving.

A video from Samsung Electro-Mechanics shows how the new sensor works.

While this may be the first Samsung device to feature a periscope lens, it is certainly not the first phone to do so. It is also not the first phone to offer a 5x optical zoom. Chinese brands including Huawei and Oppo have already shown off the technology for their smartphones in the past.

In any case, it will be interesting to see how the new sensor performs in a Samsung flagship. Hopefully, we’ll get to hear more about the Galaxy S11 in the coming weeks.
