Facebook is The First Non-Google App to Reach 5 Billion Installs

When we talk about apps ‘5 billion downloads’ is a milestone that seems impossible to achieve. Till now, only pre-installed Google applications like YouTube, Play Store, Gmail, Maps, etc. were able to pass that milestone.

However, Facebook just broke the record and became the first non-Google app to reach 5 billion installs. For reference, Google Maps achieved this milestone earlier this year.

The additional information about the application on Google Play Store reveals 5 billion installs. 5 years ago, Facebook was the first non-Google application to pass 1 billion installs, but this does not come as a surprise since it is one of the most popular applications nowadays.

The fact that Facebook passed the 5 billion milestone proves that it is more popular than many of Google’s own offerings like Hangouts, Google search, and Chrome.

One of the main reasons for this is that the application comes pre-installed in almost all Huawei, Samsung, and LG smartphones.

Moreover, in the third quarter of 2018, Facebook saw a 9 percent growth in its daily users, increasing the number of daily active users to 1.52 billion. This was thanks to growth in markets like Indonesia, the Philippines and India.

  • Five billion is a big number, Great achievement from Facebook
