Mehwish Hayat Named Goodwill Ambassador for Awareness Campaign on Girls’ Rights

The Ministry of Human Rights, under the EU Programme for the promotion of Human Rights in Pakistan, plans to undertake an awareness campaign for the “Rights of the Girl Child” on the International Day of the Girl Child on 11th October 2019.

The intervention will be through the innovative use of an indigenous art form -Truck Art, as mobile billboards to disseminate the message. 20 trucks will be painted with positive messages on girls’ rights including the right to education, the right to play, the right to realize their full potential by ensuring freedom from child marriage and child labor.

The trucks will carry these messages as they traverse the length & breadth of Pakistan as moving billboards & help in sensitizing truck drivers, as well as the hard to reach population who are exposed to the trucks on these routes.

Mehwish Hayat has been appointed as the goodwill Ambassador for the Rights of the Girl Child. She will lend her voice and support in ensuring that girls across Pakistan are provided the right to education, health, nutrition, freedom, and no discrimination and abuse so that girls can reach their full potential.

Mehwish Hayat opined on the matter by saying:

When we give girls their rights including the right to education, the right to freedom from child labor, the right to freedom from child marriage we ensure that girls reach their full potential.

Television, digital and radio messages with Mehwish Hayat will help in creating awareness on the Rights of the Girls Child.

  • Great move hope parents and society will get the message. The real progress of society depends only upon the girls education.
Come on little angles.. make the world into paradise.
