Realme X2 Pro Flagship Launched With Snapdragon 855+ & 90Hz Display

Realme has had enough with exclusively making entry-level and mid-range smartphones. The company has finally launched its first proper flagship as an upgraded version of its previously launched Realme X2. However, specification-wise, the smartphone is nothing like Realme X2 due to the massive upgrade.

The Realme X2 Pro comes with top of the line specifications, threatening other Chinese OEM-made flagships. Featuring SD855+ chipset, 90 Hz screen refresh rate and HDR10+ support, this smartphone comes in a classic and stylish casing.

Design and Display

The smartphone comes with a light paint job on the back with curved edges. The quad-sensor rear camera is vertically stacked in the center and the fingerprint sensor is mounted under the display. According to the company, the new fingerprint reader can unlock the phone in as little as 0.23 seconds.

The basic Realme X2 Pro will be available in two colors: Ocean Blue and Midnight Silver while the master edition will be available in red and grey colors.

At the front, it boasts a 6.5-inch waterdrop notch AMOLED display panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate, 1080p resolution, HDR10+ support, and DCI-P3 color space.

Internal and Storage

As for the innards, the Realme X2 Pro is a massive upgrade over vanilla Realme X2. It comes with Qualcomm’s top-notch Snapdragon 855+ chipset at the helm topped with 6 GB, 8 GB or 12 GB RAM and 64 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB onboard storage. The master edition is only available in 12GB/256GB configuration. The storage is unfortunately non-expandable.

One of the Company’s main reasons behind using SD855+ chipset is that it is the only chipset that can efficiently handle 90 fps gaming. Since the smartphone is optimized for gaming, it comes with a vapor chamber for cooling the chipset. The vapor chamber uses a graphite sheet to evenly spread the heat. Moreover, the device is also equipped with HyperBoost 2.0 for enabling stable frame rates, Tactile linear motor for better haptic feedback and Touch Boost 2.0 for up to 35% higher-touch responsiveness.

Currently, the smartphone runs on ColorOS 6 flavored Android 9.0 Pie, but the company has promised to upgrade it to Android 10 in the upcoming months.

Cameras

At the back, Realme X2 Pro comes with a quad-sensor setup that features a 64MP Large Samsung GW1 sensor (1/1.72”) as the main sensor, that sits behind an f/1.8 lens. The secondary sensor is a 13 MP Telephoto sensor with a 2x optical zoom joined by an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor with 115 degrees FOV and 2 MP depth sensor.

The camera has a dedicated night mode dubbed ‘Nightscape 2.0’ that uses a multi-frame synthesis effect and AI techniques to reduce the noise. It also has 4K video recording ability with electronic video stabilization.

For selfies, the smartphone features a 16 MP single sensor that comes with a quad Bayer filter and 1.0µm pixels.

Battery and Pricing

This Realme flagship is powered by a 4000 mAh battery, backed by the Company’s latest 50W SuperVOOC fast charging. It can charge up to 80% in 30 minutes.

The smartphone will go on sale in China on 18th October at the following prices:

  • 6GB/64GB ~$380

  • 12GB/256GB (both basic and master editions) ~$465
