Islamabad High Court Alerts Employees Against a Possible Malware Attack

In the face of growing incidents of cyber-attacks and date breaches, Islamabad High Court has alerted its employees against a possible cyber-attack.

According to the official notification issued by Additional Registrar (IT), “Ransomware” has been launched worldwide to target computers running on Windows 7 and 10 operating systems.

“Ransomware” is a type of malware designed to harm a computer, server, client, or a network, which not only prevents users from accessing their files, but it also demands ransom if they wish to regain access to their files.

“Ransomware” can spread through phishing emails, downloads from the browsers, or infected USBs.

For the employees to protect official data and avert a possible “Ransomware” attack, the following guidelines have been provided by the Additional Registrar (IT):

  • Take a backup of the official data
  • Avoid plugging USBs official systems
  • Use a local network to share sensitive emails
  • Avoid installing plugins in the browser
  • Do not open websites unnecessarily
