60% of Pakistan Railway Tickets in 2019 Were Booked Online: CEO

Pakistan Railways (PR) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ijaz Ahmed Abro, has termed 2019 as the year of revolution for the department.

He made these remarks while speaking at Pakistan Railways Headquarters on Wednesday.

Abro said that the previous year saw a record increase in online bookings as more than 60 percent of the seats were booked online and vowed to increase e-ticketing in 2020. The chief executive officer revealed that no seat had gone vacant last year.

After Pakistan Army, Pakistan Railways is the second largest intuition of the government.

Speaking about the achievements of PR in 2019, Ijaz Abro recalled that 275 coaches were repaired locally while 75 Chinese coaches were added to the fleet.

He said that 24 new trains were run from August 18, 2019, to December 14, 2019, and hoped that two more trains will be made functional till May 2020.

He applauded the role of divisional workshops and carriage factories saying that without them, new trains could not be made operational.

He mentioned that throughout the year, the department renewed and restored 157-km railway tracks in different divisions, and repaired 31 bridges. Abro added that ML-1 will be inaugurated in 2020.

  • There is a problem in online booking. If u miss the train, u can’t get any refund. I booked 7 green line tickets front rawalpindi to lahore, unfortunately due to traffic jam, I missed the train. All my money of 7 seats was wasted as I was informed that in online booking refund is not available.

    • same thing happend to me. They said they have no policy for refunds of online bookings.
