The World Health Organization (WHO) has praised the efforts by the government of Pakistan for following clinical protocols and global standards to contain the novel coronavirus.
Commenting on the development, the WHO representative in Pakistan Dr. Palitha Mahipala, said that she appreciates:
The swift and diligent way the government has handled the crisis so far and WHO is committed to supporting them every step of the way.
The UN-based global health agency announced its full support for the country for preparedness and response measures to handle any untoward situation.

Sindh and Balochistan, the two provinces under threat have closed down all educational institutions for 15 days, declared a medical emergency in all government hospitals, established quarantine facilities, and isolated wards at hospitals.
Besides installing advanced scanners at all national airports, the authorities have also set up WHO recommended test centers for the novel virus across the country.
In addition to this, special health teams have also been deployed at entry points from Afghanistan and Iran for screening pedestrians and transport crews.

Dr. Mahipala noted that WHO has declared a global emergency for the COVID-19 outbreak, and all countries neighboring China – Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, and India – had registered at least one confirmed case of the virus.
She underscored the need of the international community to work hand in hand to fight against the deadly virus.
The global health body has also advised people to stay up to date on COVID-19 related information and follow necessary preventive and protective measures.
