Xiaomi Wuhan HQ Resumes Operations After Coronavirus

As the outbreak settles down in China, industries are starting to resume their operations once again in the country. Apple re-opened several of its plants in mainland China last week and now Xiaomi has announced that its officially resuming operations in Wuhan as well.

The Chinese phone maker has sent its first batch of employees to work in its Wuhan headquarters with “epidemic care packages” including masks, hand sanitizers, and a red envelope.

The company is putting disease prevention and caution as its top priority in its Wuhan offices. They have introduced stricter measures at the facility including two different temperature checks, a meal sharing system, two masks, and more to prevent the spread of diseases.

The Xiaomi Wuhan headquarters had started construction back on 25th November 2018 and finally started operating in December 2019. However, it was forced to shut down soon afterward on January 20th, 2020, when multiple confirmed coronavirus cases started surfacing in the facility.

After more than 2 months, the Wuhan headquarters has resumed operations once again and the employees have been instructed to set up a control team for disease prevention. Each of the 2000 employees have been screened for the virus and no active cases have been observed so far.
