Shafqat Mahmood, Federal Minister Education, has denounced the news circulating on social media, claiming that the federal government has decided to reopen schools across the country around 15 July.
Responding to a Twitter poll created by renowned singer and songwriter, Ali Zafar, the education minister said that the government hasn’t made any decision to resume the academic process in schools.

Following the outbreak of Coronavirus in Pakistan in late February, the federal government had announced to shut down all educational institutions till 15 July to protect students and staff members from contracting the deadly virus.
Coronavirus pandemic may have disrupted the normal academic process, but the federal government has taken some key measures to impart education to children until the schools are closed.
For instance, last month, Shafqat Mahmood had announced the launch of a dedicated radio channel that will provide education to students who don’t have the facility of television at their homes.

In April, the education ministry had launched a teleschool on PTV. The teleschool imparts education to students of grades 1 to 12 every day for 10 hours from 8 AM to 6 PM.
Meanwhile, Private Schools and Colleges Associations of Sindh and KP had previously tried to coerce the government into announcing the reopening of schools. These associations had warned to reopen all schools and colleges in June under their own SOPs and to wage protests in case the government tries to intervene.
