KP Issues SOPs for Reopening Schools

The education ministry of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for schools as they start reopening across the province.

Under the SOPs, all schools are directed to carry out students’ temperature checks at the time of entry. Any student with a high temperature would not be allowed entry.

Students with COVID-19 symptoms will be sent on a seven-day leave. In case a student tests positive, the entire class will be granted a 14-day leave.

The ministry has mandated face masks, social distancing, and no-handshake policy during the entire academic session. The policy applies to students, teachers, and other staffers.

No assembly session, recesses, or any other gatherings will be allowed during the pandemic.

The students will be discouraged to share utensils and lunch boxes. They will be urged to bring their separate lunch boxes as a safety measure.

Earlier, the KP government had announced to open public schools from August 6. Only 30 to 40 percent of the staff strength was allowed entry for administrative measures and to ensure that all arrangements are in place ahead of the formal reopening.
