FBR Updates Tax Asaan App Making It Simpler & More Functional

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has updated the “Tax Asaan” mobile application which accords the taxpayers with the facility to file their tax returns through their mobile phones.

FBR Member IT Asim Ahmad, Member IR Policy Muhammed Tarique, and Member Taxpayers Audit Syed Nadeem Hussain Rizvi provided a demonstration of the updated application in a press conference held yesterday.

According to FBR Spokesperson, the Tax Asaan application now offers taxpayers the option to revise their wealth statements.

However, Commissioner FBR will be authorized to review all the revisions.

In case a revision turns out to be mala fide, FBR will serve a notice to the taxpayer to clarify their position.

While all categories of taxpayers can revise their wealth statements through the application, Members’ FBR only demonstrated the process of revising the wealth statements of salaried individuals and traders.

The updated version of the “Tax Asaan” application will soon be uploaded on Play Store, enabling all categories of taxpayers to revise their wealth statements.

Other key points from the press conference

FBR has uploaded the simplified Income Tax Returns Forms for Tax Year 2020 on both the official web portal and the Tax Asaan application.

It has further streamlined the process of filing tax returns for salaried class and small retailers through the Tax Asaan application.

Small retailers with a turnover up to Rs. 10 million can file their tax returns through a simplified one-page tax return form.

FBR has also simplified the wealth statement forms for Tax Year 2020 to facilitate the taxpayers.

It has also set up facilitation desks at all field formations all over Pakistan to assist the taxpayers in submitting their tax returns.

Moreover, FBR has upgraded its system which will prevent it from choking near the deadline of submission of tax returns.

FBR has set 30 September 2020 as the deadline for submission of tax returns.
