Sony has made a major announcement that will help many Xperia phone owners keep their phones for much longer. The company is introducing a battery replacement program for some of its older Xperia phones. It will only be applicable in a few regions, details of which have not been revealed yet.

The list of devices eligible for the battery replacement program is given below. Most of these will be flagship devices and the average replacement cost will be around $34.

- Xperia XZ1
- Xperia XZ Premium
- Xperia XZ2
- Xperia XZ3
People who opt for this program will also get a free USB C charging cable as well as a 10% discount on all their repairs.
The news report that comes from IT Home also reveals that Sony has promised a total of three OS upgrades for the Xperia 1 II flagship. This news comes after several phone companies including Samsung announced three-year updates for their devices which should come as good news to many.
The Xperia 1 II and 5 II flagships are yet to receive Android 11 updates, but the latest update brings October’s security patch to both devices.
