Older iPhones are known to be less durable than the current generation iPhones. However, an iPhone 6s managed to survive falling from an airplane and even recorded everything on its way down.
Brazilian documentary filmmaker Ernesto Galiotto was out flying 300 meters high over a beach located in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro. He pulled out his iPhone to start recording for his project, but unfortunately, the strong winds at that altitude pushed the phone out from his hands.
Normally, you would not expect a phone to survive such a fall, let alone find it again. However, Ernesto not only found the phone on the beach, but it had also recorded everything during its descent. He was able to find his phone using the Find My Phone app and he located it lying on the beach with surprisingly only a few scratches.
The reason why the phone survived likely had to do with the silicone protective case and the sand cushioning the fall, but 300 meters is still no ordinary height for a phone to live through.
