Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation, Sania Nishtar, to formulate a comprehensive strategy for the expansion of the Ehsaas Program.
During a meeting with Dr. Nishtar and the World Bank Country Director for Pakistan, Najy Benhassine, the PM was apprised that the World Bank has doubled its assistance for the Ehsaas Program that will provide social protection to more deserving beneficiaries.

Benhassine termed Ehsaas as a ‘flagship program of social protection and an exemplary project for other countries’.
He also praised Pakistan for leading the way to climate action, adding that it is very responsible of Pakistan to have eliminated its coal projects and shifted towards the introduction of electric vehicles.

On 3 December, PM Khan tweeted that two million families will benefit from the new Ehsaas Kafaalat Policy for Special Persons.
His tweet read: “They will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs. 2,000. This is a step toward a disability-inclusive and sustainable post-COVID-19 world”.
