PTC to Establish First BPO Hub in Pakistan to Facilitate International Distributors

Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) has announced tentative plans to set up a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) hub in Pakistan. The new processing hub will be set up in Pakistan to facilitate tobacco distributors in the Asia Pacific and Middle Eastern countries. As per sources, PTC won majority approval for establishing a BPO in the country after competing with countries such as India and Bangladesh.

Advisor to PM for Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood, informed on Twitter and other social media platforms that PTC had won the nomination to set up a new business hub in the country.

As per the Advisor, this is the first processing hub in Pakistan and shows an increasing level of interest from international investors. The new development is in line with the recent SBP announcement, which suggested that despite the impact of COVID-19, Pakistan’s industry has continued to show signs of growth in the region.

British American Tobacco (BAT) and Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) are the two leading manufacturers of tobacco products in the region. Coupled with more than 3,000 potential job openings in the country, the new Business Process Outsourcing setup is expected to bring more than $100 million in foreign exchange earnings per year.
