Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasized the promotion of small and medium enterprises to improve the economic indicators, which are already on a positive trajectory.
He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Islamabad today.
The Prime Minister issued directives to achieve the targets set for the promotion of SMEs at the earliest. He said that SMEs are a crucial component of the economy, and their promotion will strengthen the economy and create job opportunities.
Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) is also being restructured to further enhance its capacity.

The meeting was informed that the database of the SMEs is being updated on a priority basis to extend timely facilities to them along with the simplification of the tax form of the SMEs.
The meeting was informed that consultations with the relevant stakeholders are underway for the extension of financial assistance to the small and medium enterprises. In this regard, the SME fund will also be created.
