Apple Will be Launching Its New iPad Pro in Q1 2021: Report

News about a new iPad Pro that will make an early appearance on the market in 2021 has been making rounds on the internet.

The latest report by DigiTimes endorses these rumors. Recently, an internal document of the Apple supplier GIS detailing the mass production of new integrated Mini-LED for iPad Pro was spotted by MacRumors. For those who don’t know, Apple has made quite a few changes to its supply chain over the last few months. One of the changes involves a new partner in the display department.

Now, along with BOE, the Chinese company GIS will provide crucial touch panels for both the iPhone and the new iPad Pro.

According to the report, GIS has approved investments of NT$2.198 billion (US$76.3 million) and NT$1.421 billion proposed by its subsidiary in Chengdu, China, in August and November 2020, respectively. These funds focus on expanding production capacity for integrated touch modules used in tablets. Moreover, the subsidiary is expected to invest another NT$753 million to improve production line automation.

DigiTimes, citing internal sources, revealed that apart from iPhones, GIS will produce integrated touch modules for mini led-backlit panels of 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ to be launched in first-quarter 2021.

In other news, another renowned tipster unveiled that mini-LED screens’ mass production will commence from January 2021. However, iPad Pro will not be the only Apple device with the new display. Some previous reports mention that the new M1-powered Macbooks touting the mini-LED tech would launch in the first half of 2021.
