Passengers from the UK Traced and Tested for COVID-19

The Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination (NHSR&C), Dr. Nausheen Hamid, has revealed that several of the passengers who had recently arrived from the UK have been traced out and tested for the coronavirus.

Data about the passengers had been shared with the local administrations and deputy commissioners to find and identify them.

Dr. Nausheen said that there is no scientific evidence that the coronavirus has come to Pakistan from Britain.

She added that after procuring the vaccine for the virus, the government will make provisions for it to first be administered free of cost to health care workers and the elderly.

The government has allocated $250 million for the procurement of the vaccine.

She further affirmed that the private sector has been allowed to import vaccines to be made available at affordable rates.

Additionally, certain pharmaceutical companies have claimed that their vaccines will also be effective against new strains of the coronavirus.
